Massachusetts Digital Health Sandbox Program Awards $105,500 to Boost Three Massachusetts Startups

WESTBOROUGH – The Massachusetts eHealth Institute at MassTech (MeHI) has awarded new grants from the Digital Health Sandbox program to support three Massachusetts startups to test and validate their products and services at three different sandbox environments across Massachusetts. These three awards, totaling $105,500, will allow Lexington-based Keva Health, Cambridge’s Dynocardia, and Boston’s caresyntax to access the cutting-edge tools and staff at three innovative Sandbox R&D centers located in Massachusetts. The grants will help each company to test their products in real-world settings, advancing the product lifecycle, working with the innovative facilities located at PracticePoint at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), UMass Medical School in Worcester, and TechSpring, Baystate Health’s innovation center in Springfield.

Baker-Polito Administration and WPI Cut Ribbon on New Healthcare Technology R&D Facility in Worcester​

WORCESTER – January 14, 2020 – Housing and Economic Development Secretary Mike Kennealy and Worcester Polytechnic Institute President Laurie Leshin joined leaders from across Central Massachusetts and the healthcare technology community to officially open the new PracticePoint facility at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI). The new research and development facility is located at WPI’s Gateway Park. Today’s event included a ribbon cutting, tours of the four innovative healthcare test beds housed in the facility and an industry-focused panel featuring companies that are members of the new center.

Massachusetts Expands Digital Health R&D Sandbox Program, Adds Sites in Boston, Cambridge, & WMass

WESTBOROUGH – The Massachusetts eHealth Institute at MassTech (MeHI) has selected three of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ leading healthcare R&D hubs to join the Digital Health Sandbox Network, which connects Massachusetts-based startups to cutting-edge R&D facilities and allows them the opportunity to apply for funding to test their innovations at one of the Network’s labs. The new additions to the roster of Sandbox locations are Brigham Digital Innovation Hub (iHub) in Boston, MIT’s Institute for Medical Engineering and Science (IMES) in Cambridge, and TechSpring at Baystate Health in Springfield, Mass.

Baker-Polito Administration Launches Digital Health 'Sandbox' Program for Innovative Startups

WORCESTER — Governor Baker today announced a new grant program as part of the Administration’s Digital Health Initiative that will provide $500,000 in funding to open doors for healthcare technology startups to access research and development “sandboxes.” Governor Baker made the announcement during a visit with Digital Health Council members at WPI’s PracticePoint, one of the facilities supported by the program, where healthcare startups will be able to test existing technologies and develop new products and services.

MeHI Grants Aim to Improve Electronic Reporting of Child Behavioral Health Data

BOSTON – The Massachusetts eHealth Institute (MeHI) at MassTech has awarded nearly $200,000 to four qualified electronic health record (EHR) vendors to build efficient pathways for Massachusetts behavioral health providers to electronically submit reportable data to the Commonwealth’s Children’s Behavioral Health Initiative (CBHI). The grants, the result of an open procurement process under MeHI’s CBHI CANS (Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths) Interface Development Grant program, incentivize the four vendors to build new electronic interfaces and connect 12 Massachusetts behavioral health providers, allowing the providers to efficiently submit CBHI reports, replacing a manual process for the roughly 40,000 reports they submit to the Commonwealth annually.

Baker-Polito Administration Awards $250,000 for Massachusetts Digital Health Innovation Labs

Boston – June 13, 2017 – The Baker-Polito Administration today awarded $250,000 to Digital Health Innovation Labs in the Massachusetts Digital Health Initiative, a second round of funding that will provide $170,000 to support the PULSE@MassChallenge digital health hub in Boston and $80,000 for Baystate Health’s TechSpring technology innovation center in Springfield. Both organizations received previous state funding through the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative’s (MassTech) eHealth Institute last year and provide support for digital health start-ups, including mentoring, strategic partner matching, targeted education, co-working spaces, start-up accelerators, and other programming.

MeHI Awards $3 Million to Enhance Coordination Among Community Healthcare Providers & Improve Patient Care

BROCKTON, MASS. – During an event at Brockton Neighborhood Health Center today, MeHI, the Massachusetts eHealth Institute at MassTech, announced $3,038,000 in grants to drive community-level collaboration among healthcare providers using innovative technologies. The grants were made through MeHI’s Connected Communities Implementation Grant program, a statewide effort which seeks to enhance collaboration and communication among healthcare providers within a community through the use of innovative technologies, such as electronic health records and health information exchanges.

Over $1.3 Million in Grants Awarded to Massachusetts Behavioral Health Providers for Technology Adoption Efforts

December 21, 2015

WESTBOROUGH, MA – December 21, 2015 – MeHI, the Massachusetts eHealth Institute at MassTech, has awarded over $1.3 million in grants to 25 behavioral health providers to advance their use of health information technology, or Health IT, designed to improve patient care, reduce healthcare costs, and ensure appropriate privacy and security protection of behavioral health patient data. The awards were made as part of MeHI’s eQuality Incentive Program (eQIP), an initiative that provides grants for critical technology enhancements to both behavioral health and long-term/post-acute care organizations. The behavioral health grantees, selected in two funding rounds, manage a total of 179 facilities in 64 cities and towns across Massachusetts.
