Massachusetts eHealth Institute (MeHI) Medicaid Challenge winner receives $50,000

WESTBOROUGH, Mass. – The winner of Massachusetts eHealth Institute’s (MeHI) first Medicaid Challenge is Tembo Health. Tembo Health will receive a $50,000 grant to pilot their remote monitoring technology with members of the nonprofit health insurance company, WellSense.

Digital Health Challenge Launch Mobilizes Companies with Innovative Solutions to Address the Health of Women+

BOSTON, MASS. — Today, the Massachusetts eHealth Institute at MassTech (MeHI) launched a new Digital Health Challenge focused on bolstering support for Women+ communities. The event was sponsored by the chairs of the Joint Committee on Healthcare Financing, State Senator Cindy F. Friedman and State Representative John J. Lawn, Jr. The kickoff for the second session in MeHI’s Challenge series brought together leaders across the Digital Health ecosystem to examine and tackle health-related issues faced by Women+, which includes the needs of cisgender women and transgender or nonbinary individuals whose health needs relate to those of cisgender women. The second event in a series launched late last year by MeHI, the new Challenge includes the issues of maternal health, reproductive equity, mental health, and disease prevention.

Startups Pitch ‘Healthy Aging’ Tools at Finale of Massachusetts Digital Health Competition

CAMBRIDGE, MASS. – Today, seven companies pitched their innovative digital products to promote healthy aging to judges at the finale of the Healthy Aging Sandbox Challenge, a months-long competition run by MeHI, the Mass. eHealth Institute at MassTech. The finale, hosted at Cambridge-based venture firm The Engine, was the culmination of the first Sandbox Challenge, a virtual competition series that connects startups working to address key healthcare challenges with the Massachusetts digital health community, including world-class R&D centers across the state.

MeHI Adds Two Digital Health Sandboxes to Statewide Network

WESTBOROUGH – The Massachusetts eHealth Institute at MassTech (MeHI) has selected two additional R&D hubs to join the Digital Health Sandbox Network, which connects Massachusetts-based digital health startups to innovative R&D facilities and allows them the opportunity to apply for funding to test their solutions at one of the Network’s labs. The new additions to the roster of Sandbox locations are Point32Health in Canton, and New England Deaconess Association in Concord.

Mass. eHealth Institute Supports Digital Health Innovation Statewide

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Mass., ARCHANGELS, and the Mass Caregiving Initiative Team up to Launch "Any Care Counts" Campaign in Support of Unpaid Caregivers

BOSTON - Today, ARCHANGELS, a start-up dedicated to supporting unpaid caregivers, with support from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts (Blue Cross) and the Mass Caregiving Initiative at the MassTech Collaborative, launched the Any Care Counts campaign, designed to increase recognition and support of unpaid caregivers in the Commonwealth. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 43 percent of adults nationwide serve as unpaid caregivers. The collaboration will increase awareness for this vital and often invisible role, that disproportionately impacts the most at-risk populations and can result in serious mental health consequences.

Kinto Wins the Mass. Digital Health COVID-19 Recovery Challenge

BOSTON, MASS. – Kinto was named the winner of the Massachusetts Digital Health COVID-19 Recovery Challenge on Wednesday. Cambridge-based Kinto, a virtual platform that offers caregiver coaching, a personalized e-learning curriculum, and peer support groups, will benefit from a $100,000 grant to advance its product with MITRE, a member of the Massachusetts Digital Health Sandbox Network. The other two finalists, Dear Mémé and Thriving.ai, were awarded $50,000 in grants to work with their Sandbox partners.

Massachusetts eHealth Institute Awards ‘Right Care 4 You’ Grants to Reduce Healthcare Costs

WESTBOROUGH – The Massachusetts eHealth Institute at the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative recently announced awards for the new Right Care 4 You grant program totaling $189,360 for two digital health companies to support pilot projects with Massachusetts employers to help reduce their healthcare costs. The two competitive grants were awarded to Fitbit to conduct a randomized controlled trial with UMass Memorial Health Care (UMass Memorial) employees, aimed to help prevent and manage cardiometabolic diseases using Fitbit Premium™ and Health Coaching services and to Vincere Health to conduct a pilot of their smartphone-connected smoking cessation solution with Boston Medical Center (BMC) employees.
