#BeCareCurious about available caregiver resources, especially MassDigitalHealth technology!
More than 840,000 Massachusetts residents provided care to an adult over the age of 18 in the last 12 months. This family caregiving benefits seniors by allowing them to age within their community, surrounded by a strong network of supports. But it can place immense financial, physical and emotional pressures on the caregivers. We know that innovation is crucial to supporting family caregivers and are working to encourage and support development of an ecosystem of digital health technologies that address challenges related to the growing aging population and those that care for them.
That is why MeHI, in collaboration with leaders from business, health care, education and state government, recently launched the Massachusetts Caregiver Coalition, an initiative to assess and address the needs of unpaid family caregivers across the Commonwealth. Together, we are building a Coalition designed to help improve caregiver quality of life and encourage innovation and technology to support these family caregivers.
This was a timely announcement last month as November was #NationalFamilyCaregiversMonth, a time to recognize and honor family caregivers across the country. The theme this year is #BeCareCurious and we encourage employers and caregivers to #BeCareCurious about digital health tools that can make caregiving for your loved one a bit easier.
The Massachusetts Caregiver Coalition invites all employers in the Commonwealth to join the Coalition in acknowledging family caregiving as a critical workforce opportunity and support fellow employees with their caregiving responsibilities.
