The federal government is committing unprecedented resources to support the adoption and meaningful use of Electronic Health Records (EHR). The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is making available incentive payments totaling up to $27 billion over 10 years, or as much as $44,000 per provider, through Medicare, and $63,750 per provider, through Medicaid. There are different rules and requirements for Medicare and Medicaid Eligible Professionals (EPs). Eligible Professionals (EP) may not be hospital-based and those who do not participate with the Medicaid or Medicare programs are not eligible for the bonus program’s funds. For Medicaid payments, EPs must have 30% Medicaid patient volume threshold (with the exception of Pediatricians who can have a 20% population), and can receive a maximum incentive of $63,750.
We are excited to announce that the Medicaid EHR Incentive Payment Program went live on October 3, 2011! The MeHI Medicaid EHR Incentive Program Operations staff is here to provide assistance in guiding Eligible Professionals and Hospitals through the registration, attestation and validation process; as well as providing educational workshops and onsite visits for Eligible Professionals and Hospitals.
