Public Health Measures

Meaningful Use Public Health Measures

CMS requires Eligible Providers (EPs) and Eligible Hospitals (EHs) to attest to Public Health Measures as part of the Meaningful Use (MU) requirements. The objective of the requirement is to improve public health, and the requirement applies regardless of whether EPs or EHs participate in the Medicare or Medicaid EHR Incentive Programs.

The Public Health Reporting objective requires active engagement with one of more of the following:

  1. Immunization Registry
  2. Syndromic Surveillance Registry
  3. Specialized / Public Health Registry
  4. Electronic Lab Reporting (ELR) (EH-only)

       Stage 3 future program years:

  1. Electronic Case Reporting
  2. Clinical Data Registry

Watch this video, read details below, or visit this website to learn how the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) assists EHs in meeting the objectives.
