Meaningful Use Achievement for Eligible Professionals by Specialty

AIU MU Progress Table

Similar to the graph above, this table displays the percentage of providers who achieved Adopt, Implement, Upgrade (AIU) and Meaningful Use (MU) by medical specialty. The table includes the number of providers licensed in each specialty. It also shows the percentage with a license classified as non-hospital-based, which typically correlates to the percentage of providers likely to be eligible to participate in the EHR Incentive Programs as EPs. This correlation does not exist for medical professions which are mostly not eligible, such as Mental Health.

Meaningful Use Achievement vs. Non-Hospital-Based Classification

AIU MU Progress by Specialty Graph 2

A visual representation of the table above, this graph compares the percentage of providers who achieved Adopt, Implement, Upgrade (AIU) and Meaningful Use (MU) against the percentage of providers in each specialty who are potentially eligible for EHR Incentives. This comparison sheds light on the specialties that may have potential for increased participation in the Medicare and Medicaid EHR Incentive Programs, or can benefit from other Health IT support programs.
