Mass HIway Event Notification Service Stakeholder Session (Boston)

The Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Services (EOHHS), Mass HIway is gathering information and input for a planned offering of an Event Notification Service (ENS).

ENS can provide real-time notifications to the patient’s healthcare providers regarding their admissions to, discharges from, or transfers from a hospital. This would allow providers to respond with information and/or clinical support.

EOHHS seeks your input about how an ENS may benefit your healthcare organization, or you as a healthcare provider.

Who should attend:

– Hospital Physicians and Nurses

– Primary Care Physicians, Physician Assistants and Nurses

– Community Health Center Providers

– Health IT Professionals from hospitals, community health centers, and other primary care sites

Tentative Agenda:

  • Overview of HIE and ENS

  • Regional landscape of ENS usage

  • Use case examples

    • A patient from Eastern Massachusetts is admitted to a hospital in Western Massachusetts and the patient's primary care physician is alerted, so they can provide the hospital with relevant clinical information

    • A primary care physician is notified that her patient is being transferred from a hospital to a skilled nursing facility

  • Stakeholder feedback

  • Questions, answers, discussion
